Salzburg: The Sound of Music

salzburg austria Altstadt Festung hohensalzburg fortressI am curious and a little excited to watch the remake of the The Sound of Music tonight on NBC.  Traditionalists can balk all they want but Carrie Underwood certainly has the pipes to fill Maria’s dirndl.

salzburg austria view Altstadt Sadly, this new production will not be filmed on location in and about Salzburg and the Austrian Alps as was the 1965 movie.  When in Salzburg, you can’t help but stumble through sites used in the movie.  I hadn’t seen the film since childhood and after watching it a couple years ago – was stunned to see how much of the movie could be found in my travel photos.
